This is my happy little blog full of personal thoughts, opinions, family life and my feeble attempt to photograph life as it rushes by me.

Monday...and This Is All I Got!
Yes, I made this snowball. It is not perfectly round, but I didn't see the Snowmen Police anywhere around. Can you tell what this is? I mean, besides snow.
Look closer.
It's a Snow Angel made by my husband.
He's a big kid at heart. What husband isn't?
Am I right?

Christmas Traditions...And Some New Ones
Over the past 20 years, I have collected Lenox Holiday China. Due to the expense, it takes a person that long to collect a complete setting for 12. Just between you and I...I didn't find all of my china, but there was enough for us to enjoy.
Being the oldest daughter, I was lucky enough to inherit my mother's sterling silver. I have been known to have as many as 3 forks and 3 spoons, but this year with all of the unpacking going on, I scaled back.
The linens on my table were gifted to me by my mother in law. I couldn't have selected a more perfect pattern if I choose it myself.
The red water goblets were purchased years ago at Crate N Barrel. Over the years a few have broke, but two years ago, my daughter and son in law found a couple of glasses that were a perfect match.
The plate chargers were a gift from a dear friend. The deep cranberry red perfectly compliments the entire table. My wine glasses were a gift from my dear sister.
In years past, I usually have a complete candle extravaganza as my table scape. It is so elaborate that we keep a phone near by in case we have to call 911! Since there are at least 8 boxes of "dining room" not unpacked yet, I was not able to bestow the table scape I had imagined. Don't worry, there's always next year.
This year, my entire menu consisted of Tyler Florence's Prime Rib, Cornish Hens with Sage Butter, Roasted New Potatoes with Rosemary, Cream of Spinach and Cream of Pearl Onions. This was all topped off with Pioneer Woman's delicious Rum Cake.
I guess you can say I am one of those cooks who is a risk taker. (or is it whom?) I'll try a new recipe for a crowd anytime (except risotto..which I will never master).
Don't forget the Christmas Give A Way. There are less than 20hours left to enter.

Oh Christams Tree....Oh My Christmas Tree!
This ornament expresses happiness and sadness at the same time. Sadness because this year, I gave my daughter all of her ornaments that were purchased for her by her Oma & Opa, her Dutch grandparents. She can now enjoy them on her tree. On the other hand, this ornament and the many others that were gifted to my son are still on my tree. It is only a few years before I bestow upon my son and his future wife all of his ornaments. But with a growing family, comes another chapter of life and that means more grandchildren!
This ornament may be scratched and worn, but I love it all the same. This little bell came off of my childhood tree. Not a lot of things were rescued from my childhood, but somehow, this bell and another one just like it managed to come with me on my road through life. One year for Christmas, I sent the "sister" ornament to my baby sister with a little note of its history. She now proudly places her bell on her own tree. Friday, December 19, 2008

Trivial Thursday
Today....I got nothing. So I will resort to some fun emails and share with ya'll.Don't ya just love getting these clever emails from your family and friends.
I get so many that often, I only open the ones in which the subject line looks interesting.
Being a cat lover, I particularly loved these two photos.
Sorry if you are offended by this acronym. You will just have to deal with it today.

If all goes well today, I may start baking.
Tonight, we will put up the tree.
I will reminisce about all of the ornaments as I hand them on the tree.
Probably have a tear or two...but with the drugs I'm on...I am much more in control these days.
Here is one email I received that could resolve our entire economic problems in the country.

Boy! Am I In Trouble!
I decided to show these to my daughter, thinking perhaps she would like to take some home with her. She grabbed Willie's Adventures, opened the book, and the next thing I heard was "O oh!".

My Photo...Atlanta Botanical Gardens
About a month ago, I received an email from Schmap, a publisher of free digital travel guides for destinations throughout USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I almost deleted the email, considering the amount of spam these days. Luckily, I did not.
Schamp conveyed an interest in publishing one of my photographs of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, a trip we took during the Chihuly exhibit. Of course, I was just being considered, however I received word that my photo was included in the latest upload.

Unpacking is Hell!
It was heartwarming to see my collection of Swarovski Crystal...
...and here are a few of my friends that I treasured over the years...now I can find my tooth brush, hair products and make up....
now I just have to use them!
Our bed is completed.....
there is so much more to do and I've come to one realization....
As I flop into bed each night I can only think of one thought...
Getting old sucks!
