Drivin' 55

Where have I been?  WHERE have I been?   Well, nothing much has changed.  I wasn't lying on a beach in Tahiti.  Nor was I fishing for the Great White. More along a boring matter, I am still working at what I consider my dream job.  Honestly, I am completely 180 degrees from where I was one year ago where I hated getting up in the morning and dreading spending hours upon hours on the phone.  Today, I could work 7 days straight if needed and not blink an eye.   Yesterday was spend with Jack, my sweetheart.  Here are a few photos of our day out.  A stop at the local O'Donalds for a (which I was completely surprised) a healthy kid's meal.  The teeniest, tiny serving of french fries, apples, chicken nuggets and skim milk.    Just because we can raise our hands over our head, silly!  A little snippet of the river  more play time on the slide  and a little precious face Being the creative person that I am, I concocted ...

Nothing! I got nothin'! It's stinkin' hot and the air conditioner refuses to shut off. (which is probably a really good thing) I am keeping it at 76 degrees during the day and dropping the temps to 74 at night. Believe me, you ladies out there know we would all have the thermostat set on 68 during the summer if we  didn't have to sell a kidney! Perhaps tomorrow I will cool off in the pool. I find it hard to believe that this little baldy was Jack just last summer. My, how he's changed. Glad he finally grew some hair! Adios!

How is this possible you ask? Break a ride at EPCOT? We managed to do it and believe me, it was so very necessary. This photo shows Jack wondering. Wow, I love it here in Mexico! The twinkling sky and the water ride is just great! But within one hour, this little guy scared the crap out of all of us. As we wandered back towards the Universe of Energy ride, Jack was showing signs of running a fever. He wanted nothing to do with the chewable Tylenol so our plans were to get him some liquid after the ride. As we boarded our vehicle to take us back into the time of dinosaurs, Grampa was holding Jack on his lap. I looked over at them and Jack's little eyes were rolling around. Just as the cast member announced that once the ride started, we would be on board for 37 minutes, Jack began convulsing. We passed Jack over to his Dad. Lights went out. We were about to move. Disney. Family. Grand Boy. Fun. What could possibly go wrong, you ask? Jack was loving his one on one time with Goofy, Mom and Dad. He didn't shiver when he rode Haunted Mansion. Here we all are on day one to rack up miles on our sneakers. Jack even improved his photography skills at our favorite Chicago style pizza hangout! Who knew by looking at this sweet face that he would end up in the ER just 4 nights later.

Yesterday, this little guy thought it was time to finally come up with a name for me. It is a name that I will enjoy being called.. One that is sophisticated yet funny. Loving and rare Unique but not so unusual One that I will spring to my feet when I hear it being said. Are you ready? Can you guess? It does not begin with a "g". It is not the Dutch version of Grandma. Not the Polish version either (thank goodness). OK Here Goes ... ... ... Mimi! Ta Da!!! Mimi out!

My cute little Grand Boy loves his "choo choo". We play "choo choo" all day long . It is so fun to watch his development. At first, he simply could not put the track together or place Thomas on the tracks. But now, he can attach the tracks and place some of the engines on the tracks. Being a Grand Mom is such a blessing!

I have been remiss relative to my blog these days. My mind has been consumed with the task at preparing several wedding invitations and other such items for a friend of my daughter's. Upon being asked to take on this task, I was immediately honored, however, very quickly I felt a bit of panic and the extreme sense of overwhelming doubts. But.... I quickly wrapped my brain around this project and began planning. On Tuesday, I meet with the bride to be to present my ideas to her. Perhaps, things will settle down after Tuesday. I've been so focused that I missed a local tea party at Joyce's . I am so sorry Joyce! My little Pumpkin is just growing like a little weed and eating me out of house and home! A typical day requires two breakfasts for little Jack. We start off with Cheerios, followed an hour later by cheesy eggs. After his 2 hour nap, I fix him vegetables, fruit and maybe mac and cheese. This holds him over until about 4 o'clock when he demands more than a sn...

One project to scratch off of the list! Jack’s Christmas stocking is complete. Yea! I haven’t used my embroidery skills for quite some time. By the time I got down to the lower stocking, all skills of stichery somehow came to the forefront of my brain and I was proud of my accomplishment. Here’s the baby bear saying “Grand Mom, you did an awesome job!”   I already ordered and received the next stocking for baby number 2…whenever he or she makes his or her appearance. 

My baby loves his Little Tykes car.  Especially when Grand Pop plays with him.  Grand Pops play rougher than Grand Moms.  Grand Moms walk around the cul-de-sac, waving to the neighbors and the security man. Grand Pop … where are you?  I’m waiting.  Grand Pop? Swish….Grand Pop pushes Little Jack and he zooms down the street.   Yep, that’s what I’m talking about! Zoommmmm!!!!

It seems as though we are bombarded everyday about the H1N1 virus these days.  One can’t go 5 minutes watching the news without either a story about the shortage of the vaccine, the reported 19 deaths of young children, or the long lines of people lining up to acquire the vaccine.  Though it seems that I do not fall into the recommended age group, I do not have to ponder whether or not to participate in the mass of people attempting to be vaccinated.  Every year my husband and I get our annual flu shots, but I wonder if I would get the new vaccine.  The Swine flu peaked in Georgia as soon as the children went back to school in early August.  It seems to be waning at this point.  Somehow I believe that the media has blown this story out of proportion because they seem to do this with every mass story.   Gee, the media has never done this before, right?  Bottom line…will you get the H1N1 vaccine?  Will your family members be vaccinated?...
