TGIF

TGIF!!!  Why are you glad it’s Friday? What plans do you have for the weekend as summer begins to wane? Tell me the best weekend you ever had.  Details.  I need details!!

Sunflower Kind of Day

Image
This summer, I was determined not to miss the vast fields of sunflowers. Last summer, it was my intention to photograph them, but I procrastinated. Since the flower field faces north and I don’t know why, I couldn’t get the view I wanted without being run over by several hundred cars zipping along at 60 mph. How lucky was I to have this beautiful butterfly drop by to sample his afternoon lunch.

Searching for a Match

Image
Sometimes when I am writing my post for the blog, I have a definite idea in which I want to share. As I write, I wonder, what photo will be appropriate to accompany my gibberish? So I find myself searching my archives and wonder…does this fit? Other times, when blogging, I have a set of photos in mind and decide to tell my story based on those photos as in yesterday’s farmer market post. And…there are times when I have no photo which will pay respect to my writing. I may go photo-less or I may just plug in a photo that happens to be one of my favorites for no apparent rhyme or reason. What do you think today is all about?

The Bounties of Summer

Image
Imagine how surprised I was to find out that every Saturday beginning May 31st to October something that there is a Farmer’s Market right across the river from where we live.  My daughter insists that I knew this, but somehow I forgot.  I think that is highly unlikely, but I will proceed! If we had a canoe, we would have to walk 2 blocks and paddle across the Chattahoochee River and we’d be there.  However, without such canoe, we have to take the standard roads to arrive at this fun little market.   Immediately, I commented to my husband that this looks like…don’t say it, he said.  It is not Costa Mesa, California.  Do you see the ocean.  Well, no, but it DID remind me of Costa Mesa.  Come with me to the farmer’s market… Home grown herbs with an Asian flair..   Fresh beans…crunchy cucumbers… Peppers, tomatoes, and jalapenos, Oh My!   Summer squash and baby eggplants   Fresh herbs, lemon cucumbers (...

Goals…and Then Some

Image
This week, I vow to complete 3 out of these 5 projects. 1.  Finish reading Dan Brown’s Deception Point 2.  Finish reading Nora Robert’s 3. Complete the book I am in the process of making for my Mother 4.   Clean my desk/craft table 5.  Organize my rubber stamps to finally get them out of the boxes and on the shelf 6. Finish my lovely book from last Sunday’s class.  7.  Make sure I visit 8 crafting blogs, one a day to enter the big give a way from Spellbinder's Give a Way 8.  Learn my new phone (oh, wait…that’s more things than I agreed to do) Any bets on what I really do this week? Does anyone know what type of flower this is?  I posted it because I really love the texture of the leaves. Granted, it has nothing to do with this post, but it’s my blog and I can post whatever I want!!!

O Susan

Image
‘O Susan, Susan, lovely dear, My vows shall ever true remain; Let me kiss off that falling tear; We only part to meet again. Change as ye list, ye winds; my heart shall be The faithful compass that still points to thee. John Gay (1685–1732)

The Flower of Yesteryear

Image
Nothing says yesteryear than hydrangeas. One look at this beautiful snowball flower and I imagine antique lace, doilies, and the hint of Scarlett O'Hara whispering to Rhett. I have never been lucky enough to grow hydrangeas. For some reason, I lack that green thumb required to produce these beauties. Send me your photos of the hydrangeas in your yard. I can't wait to see them!
