Dream A Little Dream Of...

Image
The heat is so oppressive this summer that I am wishing, no dreaming of cooler climates.  Seriously!  Just last night I dreamt of sitting near the water somewhere in Maine.  While I clung to my sweater and wrapped it tightly around me, I called to my beagle, Heidi, to return to a closer proximity to me. As my face was stretched to the heavens, I found refuge in the sounds of the crashing waves.  The cool breeze was my friend.  Then I woke up... ...Reality sucks! Stay cool...

Tuesday Tidings

Image
Nothing! I got nothin'! It's stinkin' hot and the air conditioner refuses to shut off. (which is probably a really good thing) I am keeping it at 76 degrees during the day and dropping the temps to 74 at night. Believe me, you ladies out there know we would all have the thermostat set on 68 during the summer if we  didn't have to sell a kidney! Perhaps tomorrow I will cool off in the pool. I find it hard to believe that this little baldy was Jack just last summer. My, how he's changed. Glad he finally grew some hair! Adios!

Everyday Miracles

Image
This photo just amazes me to no end and baffles me to think that some divine being, in my case, my God, created each and every one of these little, tiny sea shells for my pleasure.   Granted, this area is approximately 3' x 4' and look at the number of shells washed up on the beach!  I am left with the sense of just how small we truly are as we are just a tiny spec in an overwhelming universe of life.  The colors are so peaceful, serene and calming.  Some may say these are just beiges but I say, nonsense! 16:1   Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.

Farmer's Market...Ahhh!

Image
Summer brings many exciting experiences but none other are as anticipated than our weekly visit to the Farmer's Market in Roswell, Georgia. As much as the market has grown with many new vendors, the customers have grown, too, causing the city to move the venue from the Riverside Park along the Chattahoochee to the municipal center. Yeah, not very exciting location, but I fully understand the need for more parking! Moss Hill Farm offers the freshest squash, zucchini and eggplant as most is either picked the night before or early early in the morning. I didn't purchase any honey, but I loved the yellow on yellow format of this cheery vendor's booth. The beloved butterfly bush! It is the closest to the native lilac bush from the Midwest. This trip, we were sans grandchild so no free flowers for me! This is one of my favorite booths at the market if you are in need of some fresh herbs or perennials for your garden. Shade or sunny location, they have just the right plant for...

Hopes of a Little Stormy Weather

Image
We could use a little rain and cooler temps! Picture a summer thunderstorm. The kind that brings cooling relief and the fresh smell of nature all around. Remember sitting on the front porch, eating banana popsicles? Swinging your feet back and forth as though you were pumping on a swing? Catching lightening bugs and punching holes in an old mayonnaise jar. Until then, let's all try to catch a breeze and rock a little. I think much can be accomplished if you just rock your troubles away. See you tomorrow!

Steamy Saturday

On a hot, steamy Saturday there’s nothing better than a Dora popsicle!

It's Sunday

Image
It's Sunday. Yes it is. Laziness has beat me down this weekend. I still owe you all my Christmas in July post. Don't worry, it is coming, just like Christmas! If my friend was a little treasured nic-knack, I would certainly have him on my shelf of Santas. Happy Sunday!!!

Happy Sunday
