Who Knew?

So, we are Drivin' 55, (well, actually 70) and I finally found something decent to listen to on the the drive up. It was a country station and I knew Mom would approve of country.

Mom is a little hard of hearing. Well, maybe a lot...but I had the volume up to a low medium volume. The only reason I recognized the song playing on the radio was because I recently caught a little of the CMA awards. Kid Rock's new song, All Summer Long begins to play on the radio. Surprisingly, I like this song. Secretly, I am wondering what my Mother will say. I am certain she will ask me to change it or not hear it at all. The conversation goes like this...

Mom: Is that Rid Rock?

Me: Yes, it is.

Mom: He stands for everything I hate. Long hair. Drugs. Alcohol. Sun glasses all the time. He's even been married many times. He's disgusting.

Me: Yeah...(trying to sound like I slightly agree with her)

Mom: But there is something about him...(long pause and then a smile on her face) that intrigues me....and I like him! I think he's sexy!

Me: Mom, (a little shocked that my 75 year old Mother has the hots for Kid Rock) ...he's that dangerous kind of guy. The bad boy...and you like that!

Mom: Yes, I guess I do. I like Kid Rock.

Me: Well, you go girl!

As the song ended, I wondered if I knew my mother at all. My mom has the hots for Kid Rock! What will tomorrow bring??

That says it all about how we really NEVER fully know anyone even though we think we do! That is awesome! Tell your mom "she rocks" ;)

Mom's can surprise you sometimes. I am surprised that your Mom knows who Kid Rock is. I know mine doesn't.

That is too funny....I had a deaf mother also....Claimed she couldn't hear a thing...but everytime I would talk to her on the phone, if I was eating something, like pretzels, she would always say..."what's that crinkling noise in the background"....sure, she couldn't hear....I meant to tell you that I wrote a post on my blog about the North vs. the South, thought you would get a kick out of it. I still can't link but it's in my November posts...Culture Wars....

It is April of  2019. The year that marks my 65th trip around the sun.  Somehow, I always knew that I would make this landmark. There was never a doubt in my mind. The first 65 years have been trouble free. Moderate medical issues. One simple surgery in 2017.  This year will also mark 47 years of marriage to one man. Give me a standing O now, please! Christmas in July Give A Way

What better way to celebrate the middle of summer with a give a way for one lucky blogging friend? Just because I want to, I will be giving away a Christmas box with an accordion album. This happens to be my design and I have already given one away last December. Sorry, Kate , you will have to sit this one out! This paper mache box holds an accordion album inside. More than likely, I will make a minor modification to the box before shipping it to its new home. I really love these vintage papers from Melissa Frances Scrapbook . Her collection of designs and patterns reminds me of a little sea side cottage. I can smell the ocean spray right now. These papers bring me back to a time when I think I would have loved to live…The Victorian Age. But let’s not fool anyone, I want all of the modern day luxuries.
