Taste Buds vs Pennies

When do you purchase the store brand item in lieu of the brand name? In my opinion, you don't skimp on certain things as you just have to fork up the extra quarters for the sake of your taste buds.

Store brand tomato sauce is OK, as long as you mix it with the good ole Hunt's stewed tomatoes. I find store brand saltines to be quite acceptable. Stay away from the store brands of mayonnaise. As I've learned, it could compromise your potato salad or ruin your chicken salad.

Recently, I learned that when your under the weather and fighting a small scale war going on in your tummy, you must go with the real Pepto Bismo. Run, do not walk, run fast away from the store brand. Because nothing else will do when you need to settle your stomach.

What store brand items do you deem acceptable? And what brand names must you go the extra mile for?

In my experience, store brands are almost never as good as the brand name. I have yet to find one that is.

Gosh, I hope your stomach is feeling better soon.

I just read your post about the butterfly. I believe in those instinctive feelings. I have had them too, and they are always right.

I hope you are better today;) I rarely buy the store brand. Except at Trader Joe's. Everything is private label there. And awesome!
My motto has always been "You get what you pay for". I hope you're feeling better, Deb!

I've developed a taste for store brand peanut butter. I'm also pleased with my store's line of organic black beans and chili beans(great in soups and tacos!). Never store brand cereal, never store brand breads, never store brand antacids. I'd walk through broken glass for Newman's own pasta sauce!

Feel better soon.
I bought store brand green beans one time and there were pieces of leaves and stems in them I will never ever buy store brand again unless its all that is left in all of the surrounding states. Thanks for the visit to my site :o)
