No Wavering

As all of us in the Southeast are doing, we are constantly checking weather forecast. Some local channels, and you know who you are WSB, are already in that manic mode. All of their meteorologists have a dazed look in their eyes. They are giddy with anticipation of a big snow event. And let me just clarify myself as to what constitutes a "big snow event" in Atlanta.

First, just the forecast of snow makes everyone nutso. Store shelves are emptied of bread, makings for chili, brownie mix and milk. If we actually do get snow, and I must say that we will get flurries once a winter, all TV is interrupted for "black ice" warnings Yes, we are a bit crazy!

Secondly, if there is an inch of snow, than the weather channels declare "Snow Jam 2010"! Nothing else in the world is news worthy as Snow Jam 2010 becomes our only news event.

Since living here in Georgia, we once received 7 inches of snow. Trucks could not come into replenish the store shelves. Schools were closed for 4 days. My kids had a ball sledding on the hills of the local golf course. (Wasn't I the rockin' mom to have saved their sleds from Chicago!)

So, and finally getting to the point of today's post, there is no wavering whatsoever on the weather forecast for Thursday. Snow showers for Thursday. We shall see. We shall see!

Chicagoans would LAUGH at the hysteria - as I'm sure you are too. Stay warm and safe!

That very thing happens in Seattle too, it's laughable!

I laugh at the idea of trucks not being able to make deliveries .. maybe someone's Ford w/o snow tires but those BIG semi trucks? Pffit to snow.

When my brother first moved to Georgia in the early 70's I remember him calling us during the first snow/ice storm they had after he moved there. He told us he stayed in because the native southerners (and there were far more there then) thought it was neat to drive around there and didn't know how. It was far safer for the northerners to stay in than to go out.

Whatever your weather - stay warm. And safe.

I completely understand that manic situation in regards to the weather...right now they are saying the magic line is I 120...so we shall see. I am hoping it will produce a lot of moisture...two more days to tell. Good luck!

we have that same panic here if snow is in the forecast. Schools close early and the t.v. is 24/7 snow/ice coverage. Usually it ends up being a little cold spell with little snow but you would think it was a blizzard!

It's cold no matter where you are today!

This hit home. Three years ago the "Storm of the Century" was predicted. The store shelves were emptied and we got a half inch of snow with no wind. I believe store owners start the rumors.

This is a great site you have here. I have a travel blog myself which I hope to be a top resource for vacation destination information.

I'd like to exchange links with you to help spread some traffic around between each other.

Please let me know if this is possible.

It is funny to see this kind of hysteria. We have seen it in NC a few times.

And the weather report is STILL holding. Sandie
I loved it when we expected a freeze in Houston and the news put a bucket of water outside and gave us "live updates" regularly about possible ice development!

And yes..the crazy shoppers that buy out all the junk food at the stores, and they shop in heavy coats, gloes and wool hats even though the grocery store is heated?
