A Baby Wakes

The monitor begins to sound
A whimper
A coo
A soft cry
Shall I go to his call
I wait
A louder cry
I will go
Tiptoe into his room
Still dark
Safe
Peaking into his crib
He's rolled on his tummy
Little eyes still closed
I pat his back
He is between slumber
And waking
I roll him over
Little eyes still shut tight
He yawns
Face contorted
He is sweet
Another yawn
I succumb
Pick him up
Nestled on my one leg
Head on my chest
He falls back into slumber land
His face
So sweet
So innocent
My eyes
A hint of a tear
Love beyond all call.

Yep... grandma... I look forward to spoiling my grandchildren one day. Hello from another Georgia girl... even if not originally. It's home now, right?! :O)

Oh, that's so lovely. There is nothing sweeter than sitting in a rocking chair with a sleeping baby on your shoulder, is there?

I hope your cold is better. If you want a giggle, log onto YouTube and type in "man cold".

Wow. Bringing back sweet memories.

A friend gave me a cross stitch she's made. On it was this saying, "Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow, for babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs; dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep."

Love this post.
