Monday Morning Recap

This weekend was a true gift. Saturday weather was perfection. All the favored teams we root for won, making everyone happy. Sunday's weather was overcast but still resembled the new season approaching.

We celebrated my mother in law's 85th birthday. She has Alzheimer's and there are good days and there are bad days. Sunday, her memory was a little fuzzy but her sense of humor was shining through at its best.

Mom wanted to give her stamp of approval with the day's festivities, presents and cake by gesturing this cute little A-OK! I am amazed that she can be so funny and happy despite her ailment. Mom doesn't require much in the way of material things, rather finding her happiness in family and friends.

She may not remember all of our names on any given day, but she always has a smile to share. She may repeat the same question 15 times within a 5 minute time span, but we don't mind answering the repeated questions because she is a family treasure.

Happy Birthday, Jannie!

happy birthday! I hope God gives her good days!
Alzheimer's is such a sad disease. We lived that long battle with Pete's dad. It was sad for us but incredible so for Pete's mom -- she always expected to end her days reminiscing with Don about their life together. He seemed happy and content before he passed away, no longer confused by the beginning to middle stages where his memory would fade in and out. He had no idea who we were and greated each loved one as a new friend and adventure. He was a wonderful, generous, soft-spoken man who is still missed to this very day. Treasure each and every day with your MIL. She is adorable!
