Viagra is OK But Breast Exams Are Not?

What is going on?  First, the news bombards us with the recent recommendations that women do not have to get their first mammogram until the age of 50.

Today, I read that we no longer need Pap smears as frequently as recommend just a few days ago.

Just who is making these decisions?

Are the lobbyists for the insurance companies involved in some way?

Are these recommendations being enforced because we just may have a national health care plan and cost cutting is a mandate?

Well, readers, I am very, very angry.

Upset.

Provoked.

Raged.

And downright pissed.

We better be reading in the days to come that insurance companies will cease to cover Viagra prescriptions.

I am still appalled that insurance companies never paid for birth control pills but approved Viagra in a heart beat.

Is this acceptable?

Women…we must bond together.

Don't even get me started about all of this insanity because I have smoke coming out of my ears after hearing all of this on the news this week. Wasn't the big push Prevention to save long term costs of an illness? Just crazy!

Yes, it sounds extremely political, doesn't it? I doubt many Doctors agree with this! I'm outraged too! It feels like an open, sexist attack on women.

No, it's not acceptable. And I hope women don't always believe what they read - at least go ask what their own doctor thinks.

I think it has to do with the new health care plan of getting less care.

I hear you! I have been so angry and do not understand any of this nonsense!

I keep wondering what it is that they are trying to distract us from with all this nonsense.

Independent panels of doctors who clearly have never known anyone who had cancer. As a cancer survivor I say this will not fly and trust me decent doctors will ignore these 'recommendations' ...

What perfect timing...changing the rules days before the health insurance changes are going to be voted on...ofcourse it has to do with cutting back...Medicare for years only pays for a paps test every two years...so this is nothing new. I fear for my daughter and my granddaughter...this is craziness and I'm afraid it's about to get worse.

It is ridiculous. I agree with Daryl good doctors will ignore the recommendations and screen as needed.

It is craziness! I am 22 and at 20 I found a lump that was cause for concern. Its foolishness for people to say that women don't need breast exams at any age. Cancer can happen to any one.
