Fall is Inside, Too!

IMG_3604

Fall is all around us.  In some parts of the country, especially up in the Northeast, fall has given way to a snowy blanket.

Not here, though.  After what seems like months of rain, the clouds are gone and the sky is again blue.IMG_3591 This being our first fall season in our new digs, I felt the urge to do a little decorating.  Wouldn’t you know it, the first, very first

box I pulled out had all of my autumn decorations.  Good thing for me, otherwise the hubby would probably have given me

“the look”.  Shh…don’t tell him I still want my Halloween Department 56 house out for Jack to delight in.

These are just some random shots around the castle.  Can you tell I love these colors?  I find fall colors very restful and calming.

I’ll never be a fan of the modern look.  Nope, not me.  I tried it when we first got married and well, I buried that bad

ideas decades ago!

I still cannot get over the fact that my favorite aunt gave me this china.  It once belonged to her Aunt Marion.  This

set is named Indian Tree and manufactured by Spode.  Four settings are at least 125 years old and the other settings

are newer.  You may think I am a very brave person to hang these on the wall, but the antique settings are safely tucked

away in the sideboard.

This lovely little silver candlestick refuses to take on a fabulous shine.  I’ve tried every cleaner there is

and to no avail it still is dull.

What colors do you gravitate towards when it comes to home decor?

Do you go for the modern look, an eclectic combination or a traditional girl at heart?

this time of year, fall colors abound in my house. Love them!

I gravitate to warm colors and include blues and greens. This applies to home and also in my wardrobe...have strayed away from black and gray.

I have a Dept 56 Village for Hallowwen...just don't have thd rive to put it up this year :(

I love all the colors of fall. Isn't it amazing that when the weather gets colder, the colors in nature make us feel warmer!

Lucky you to own china that is 125 years old. It looks so pretty. I just love the Yankee candles this time of the year when the weather gets cooler and it is certainly cooler the past week. Let me know if you want to meet up for lunch one day with me and Sue.

Earth tones, browns, greens, reds, tans. A little modern, but not quite. Love your decorations and photos, Deb.

Your china is beautiful....I have always felt bad that the family never passed on china or silver or anything for that matter.....just a bunch of poor italians i guess...

Loved the look at your fall decor; fall colors are my favorite too...I wear a lot of greens esp., and orangey rusts. And I love fall decorations more than the others. I didn't realize you've been in your home only a yr or less.
