Let’s Find Hope

There are days that whiz by so fast that it makes your head spin.  It seems like it was only yesterday we celebrated the new millennium.  Gosh, that was 9 years ago!  I remember exactly what we were doing that night.  Lots of friends and family over.  Good times.  Good food.  So much concern over computers, banking and finances.  Luckily, no problem recorded, but I did have my gallons of water tucked away and manual copies of all important documents.  Can you say paranoid?

However, much changed in that time both privately and publicly for our Nation.  As much as I don’t want my blog to be a place of story telling of life altering events in an effort to gain public support, I just have to say that I know I am not alone in dealing with adversary as many Americans are struggling.  Not that I am gaining any pleasure in that, mind you.  These are different times we live in today.  Times will get better.  We will rebound, become stronger and independent once again.

I remember the day I took this photo while out in Las Vegas for the first time in 2005.  My husband and I took the tour to Hoover Dam.  Yes, we took the Dam tour!  Ate the “dam” hotdog!  What amazed me the most was these beautiful yellow flowers growing in the arid desert.  Out of the rocks on the side of a barren mountain, burst the most beautiful desert flower.  One would think it impossible for such a contrast to occur in nature.   Flowers of this kind are rare in the desert as just the right amount of water is needed to create such a display.  This tiny bunch of flowers brought hope to me as I stumbled upon it tonight.

Although I may be feeling a bit melancholy tonight, I know that through these difficult times, flowers will once again bloom in my life and the lives of millions.

This is a wonderful post Deb. I really believe in hope and love the picture you used to represent it.
To me hope counterbalances fear. We all have things we fear will happen. And they immobilize us. That's why hope is so important. We act on hope!

Hugs!

What a wonderful post, Deb, really .. it is very hard out there .. on the bus in the morning I see more and more small businesses closing and empty darkened shops/stores ..

Monday nite I got the Qtrly report from Vanguard .. one of our retirement funds MADE $400 this past Qtr ... I was ecstatic .. Husband reminded me how much the fund had lost ... I said (in my best Scarlett O'Hara voice) I am not going to think about what we lost, I am going to focus on how things are improving!

So that's my long winded way of saying thanks for posting that photo and for this encouraging post!

To a better future!

Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with any adversities due to downsizing. I had my hard times in the early nineties, and took steps to insure I was protected. In the end, I hand it all over to God.
