So…Will You or Won’t You?

Image
It seems as though we are bombarded everyday about the H1N1 virus these days.  One can’t go 5 minutes watching the news without either a story about the shortage of the vaccine, the reported 19 deaths of young children, or the long lines of people lining up to acquire the vaccine.  Though it seems that I do not fall into the recommended age group, I do not have to ponder whether or not to participate in the mass of people attempting to be vaccinated.  Every year my husband and I get our annual flu shots, but I wonder if I would get the new vaccine.  The Swine flu peaked in Georgia as soon as the children went back to school in early August.  It seems to be waning at this point.  Somehow I believe that the media has blown this story out of proportion because they seem to do this with every mass story.   Gee, the media has never done this before, right?  Bottom line…will you get the H1N1 vaccine?  Will your family members be vaccinated?  Do you believe we will experience a pandemic

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

Image
So, I haven't really been blogging as much as I should these days. Partly because my husband was out of town and all responsibilities fell on my shoulders for the care of the grandson and the MIL. With the arrival of Jack's Christmas stocking kit, I spent the first three days reading and re-reading the directions. Finally, realizing that I could have written them much clearer for the benefit of all mankind! Truly, these instructions were mind boggling. Sometimes I wonder if they weren't so concerned about writing directions in 14 languages, more time could be spent on writing clearer directions in English! The stocking is almost finished and I will post the photos of my handiwork. I ask that you do not pay close attention to the stitching in the upper left corner of the stocking as it took half of the stocking for me to get the hang of the applique stitch. Nothing says red like a hibiscus flower! And red will be the color for Saturday as the Georgia Bulldogs meet the Flor

If You Has One Wish…

If you could have one wish… what would it be? Would you wish to win the lottery? Would you wish for a cure for cancer? How about peace in the world? Or would you wish for happiness? What would you wish for?

My Respite…

If dreams were wishes and wishes were real I would be sitting right here absorbed in God’s beauty. On the road to Hana Maui 2003

What I Want for Christmas…

Fall is Inside, Too!

Image
Fall is all around us.  In some parts of the country, especially up in the Northeast, fall has given way to a snowy blanket. Not here, though.  After what seems like months of rain, the clouds are gone and the sky is again blue.   This being our first fall season in our new digs, I felt the urge to do a little decorating.  Wouldn’t you know it, the first, very first box I pulled out had all of my autumn decorations.  Good thing for me, otherwise the hubby would probably have given me “the look”.  Shh…don’t tell him I still want my Halloween Department 56 house out for Jack to delight in.     These are just some random shots around the castle.  Can you tell I love these colors?  I find fall colors very restful and calming. I’ll never be a fan of the modern look.  Nope, not me.  I tried it when we first got married and well, I buried that bad ideas decades ago!   I still cannot get over the fact that my favorite aunt gave me this china.  It once belonged to her A

Can You Guess Where This Photo Was Taken?

Does anyone know where this was taken??? No prize, just a brain twister. Happy Friday!!!

OMG! I Remember it Well!

Thanks to my friend, Debra, I received this email today.  So take a trip down memory lane and realize how old you really are!     I wonder what will be on our children’s list…

Stockings Were Hung…

My plan is to complete this Christmas stocking for Jack and hang on the fireplace so Santa will fill it with goodies this year… …if I don’t go blind from the beadwork! What was I thinking?

Waiting for Mommy

Image
Just last week, Jack and I were sitting on the window seat, looking out the window.  We do this every day beginning at around 5:15 PM.  Not that the little guy doesn’t have fun with his Grand Pop and Grand Mom, he does. But nothing brings such joy to a child when Mommy pulls her car in the drive way.  Hearing this little boy squeal with laughter and excitement melts my heart.  There is nothing better on earth than seeing your child go completely bonkers when Mommy arrives.   With this photo, I dabbled with a little with a software program called Nero.  I love the canvas effect applied to Jack’s little face.

No Time to Blog!

Haven’t had much time for blogging or visiting my blogging friends this week.  With schedule changes in the home, preparing for my classes (yes, I’m teaching two classes at the local scrapbook/rubber stamp store this month), trying to knit by cheating (I’m using a loom), and the arrival of my grandson’s Christmas stocking project…I have been very busy!  The cooler weather gets me jump started and I go completely bananas and start running at 100 mph pace.  Why does fall have this affect on people?  Hey, I’m not complaining, I love it.  Oh, I forgot to add that I finished reading Twilight yes, I know I’m a year off in a rapid pace!  On my nightstand is The Lost Symbol and Julie and Julia which I should spit out in a matter of years!  Yet I forget to mention my sister is sending me the other 3 Twilight books and the very first Diana Gabaldon book.  Blogging is a great pass time, but sometimes I just have to get away from the computer.  It’s not because I don’t love each and every

Invite Chip & Dale

Image
The crisp fall weather has planted me firmly into the season. I am making soups. Knitting. Crocheting. Planning on the holidays before us. I even have my beef tenderloin in the freezer for my Christmas dinner thanks to a great sale.  Thanks to all of those great emails I receive, I found these little guy! Look how adorable they are!!! Chip Dale Come to me! I’d buy these if they didn’t do anything, but they serve a purpose. The are salt and pepper shakers!  Can cuteness actually harm me? They are from Pottery Barn   and reasonably priced at $24. My suggestion to you is if you are invited to a grand gathering, bring these as a hostess gift. She will love you already, but then again, I’m sure she already loves you! Happy Fall, Ya’ll!!!

My Collection

Image
These are just a few of the many Santas I own.  They are cheerful… youthful… hopeful… colorful… and I love them! I couldn’t possibly hide them away in a box so these fun little guys stay out on display all year long. What do you collect?

Cats & Spirits

Image
I am the proud owner of 3 cats Jack (not to be confused with my Jack my grandson), Grace and Will.  Wait a minute.  That is not right at all.  I am the human that these three little kitties own.  Yes, that’s better and much more accurate.  After all, they are my little furry children.  When one meows, I come running.  When Grace yells at me and tells me to follow her, it is because her water dish is near empty or that she can see the bottom of her dish.  No, her dish is not empty but since she feeds from the center of the dish, she creates an empty space.  This makes Grace upset and what else would I do but live to make her life happy so I shake the bowl and the green spot disappears.  All is well in the feline world once again. Out of my three cats, I think Grace and I are most connected on a woman to woman basis.  Where ever I am, Grace is there by my side.  Every evening, she sits on my lap while I rub her cheeks and softly scratch the top of her head.  Usually, her eyes remain

Gotta Laugh

Restless Lip Syndrome is Urban Word's word for the day! When a person keeps interrupting a conversation and can't keep her mouth shut. Chris has to come my house to drink because when we're at his house, Linda's Restless Lip Syndrome prevents us from carrying on a conversation. I just had to giggle at this one and will probably incorporate this word into my daily vocabulary!
