How I Love Current Affairs

My friend, You Know Who You Are! , noted this new Blog Site a few months back.  Since then, I have subscribed to the site in order to keep up on current lingo.  Today’s phrase was pretty funny.  And despite all of the celebrity death’s, someone still found time to recall another story in the news.    June 27: Hiking in Appalachia To have an extramarital affair. Stems from the disappearance and subsequent reappearance of South Carolina Governor, Mark Sanford(R). Gov. Sanford was thought to be hiking in Appalachia. In actuality, he was having an affair in the South American country of Argentina. Girl, I just saw Susie's man hiking in Appalachia.

Perfect Conditions

Sunday was spectacular. A picture perfect day. I waited for these conditions to reveal themselves so I could take the perfect photo that I envisioned in my mind for months now. The lake was smooth as glass. The reflection of the autumn trees just stunning. I love days like this. What is amazing is that I used my little point n' shoot camera. Vote! I Did!

This past Thursday, I drove down to the county I am registered in to do my civic duty and vote in the 2008 presidential election. Much to my surprise, there were about 4o people who had the same idea as I did. As reported in the news, over 825,000 voters have cast absentee ballots. Here is my question. When are these votes actually tallied? In the 2004 election, we learned that the Florida absentee ballots were not tallied until weeks after the election. We all know how that election turned out. Don't forget to vote and if you live in a state that allows early voting, do it! Do it NOW.

Political Opinions...You, Too Can Have Them

This entry will be politically charged so there, you have been warned. But, after all, it is my blog and I can write whatever my little heart desires. Since the Twenty-sixth Amendment of the Constitution was ratified to standardize the voting age to 18, I counted the days until I could register. I am proud to say that I have never missed a Presidential election, even when I was 8.5 months pregnant with my first child, I stood in line with the rest of them. Well, to be honest, the kind poll workers got me a chair to rest my swollen feet and my husband stood in line, but hey, I was there. Being born in Chicago, what other party affiliation could I possible be? But that doesn't mean I have always voted straight party line, there were years that I voted for the other guy because I believed he was the better choice for our country. In recent weeks, I found the temperature of the political ads to be escalating to a level of embarrassment. The McCain campaign is grasping for any dirty tac...
